The Great Commission

I have been thinking a lot lately about The Great Commission. Many of you know what that is, but just in case you don’t, here it is:

Matthew 28:18-20

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Now that we are on the same page, I can begin.

What does the Great Commission mean? Who is Jesus speaking to? Is it relevant to us today? Is it a command, or a suggestion? It is for everyone, or just a select few who hear the ethereal “Call” to “Go” to strange and exotic lands?

I have set up a pole on the right side bar, and I’d like to get feed back from my readers about what they believe the Great Commission means and who Jesus was talking to. The poll will close on Monday August 15.
