After a rough night with Timothy, I woke up around 9am. The nice thing about the small room was that it was dark, so the kids slept in easy and took naps easy. I think that Sean may have taken Samantha and Timothy to the beach again, while I slept in and got ready to go to the Thai Consulate. My awareness levels about time and the activities of my family were indeed minimal.

Baan Talay has it’s own taxi and driver, so we left for the consulate around 10:30am. I really didn’t want to go, but the last time we applied for a visa, we all had to be there, so we didn’t want to risk it this time. As it was, I don’t think my presence was necessary. Or perhaps they’d had a good enough look at Zombie Lady as she chased the kids around the waiting area. The Embassy in Kualar Lumpur is much more conducive to family containment, as they have a huge courtyard/waiting area right outside the Visa Services building. You can pretty much see the kids anywhere. In Penang, there’s lots of nooks and crannies for rambunctious 3 year olds to hide, especially when they are aware that Mummy is not in top form.

After some running around and last minute scrambling with the paperwork, we finally got the applications in before noon. Then I demanded that we head to a mall to eat pizza and buy a few groceries. Sean wanted to go to downtown Georgetown, but once again I rained on his parade.

Back to Baan Talay for a rest for the kids and I, but Sean had to head back to the Consulate because of a problem with the paper work. I think at some point in the day I hung out in the common area with the staff and some guests. I’m positive they thought I was a strange duck, whispering all the time, even when calling the kids – “Samantha!! Where are you?”, I ‘shout’ across the yard, playing hide and seek. Perhaps they thought I was on something, with my blank stares and blood shot eyes. KD seemed relieved when I told him I had the flu. Seemed to put him at ease. 😉
