I was playing hide and seek with the kids this morning, when Miss Three announced that we needed to hide from the ladybugs. Why? Because they have yucky mouths with big teeth and they want to bite us. “Quick Mummy, climb in the truck! The lady bugs are coming!” (we all climbed into the flatbed of the truck, and got down as low as we could).

Then I realized something… in Miss Three’s imagination the World of the Wild is upside down.

Ladybugs are 10 feet tall with big yucky mouths (“even yuckier than my mouth, Mummy”) and fierce teeth.

Snakes and Spiders are pretty and cute, soft and sweet. “They are my friends”

Lions and Tigers and Bears (oh my!) are somewhere in between. Sometimes they are naughty. Sometimes they are nice.

Perhaps some of the adventures I’ve taken her on have something to do with this assessment…
