What a minute! The brochure lied. It’s cloudy and wet. A bit like London.
On Tuesday morning, Sean and I woke at 4am Florida time, and made our sleepy way to the airport to catch our flight to San Francisco. We were routed via Washington DC, and had to sit in the airport for 3.5 hrs for our connecting flight. Needless to say we drank lots of coffee to keep awake. It was my first Starbucks moment since returning to the States.
So, one thing I like about airports is people watching. Particularly kids. I watched as one mother and daughter interacted, and I wasn’t so impressed. The little girl was very sweet and full of questions. Mum just ignored her. Even got a little annoyed with her and told her to keep quiet. How sad!! Will this little girl grow up knowing how precious and valuable she is?? And then as I walked around, trying to stay awake, I saw another mother-daughter team. This little girl loved life, too. She was asking qs and making comments about everything. Even how huge the disabled stall in the toilets was. Or “oh my, this water is very cold!” And mum responded to everything with attention and love and affirmation. I really enjoyed watching and listening to them. They made a great team. By the time I wandered back to my gate, Evil Mum and her Sweet Child had flown off to Boston.
So, the flight to CA was uneventful. Slept, watched a movie (the family stone – not worth the reel or the time). And finally arrived in SF. We’re staying with Sean’s uncle for a few days. It’s nice to have a little down time before our busy schedule starts.
