We have having a great time in CA. Yesterday we got up early, and went for a walk. I really enjoyed our time with Sean’s uncle and aunt, cause they live in the hills, and we could get a good work out each day. Well, yesterday morning I looked down the street, and on beautiful Cali spring day, and saw : The Foothills!!! about a mile from the house we are staying at. So, I said, that’s where I’m going. (I hadn’t seen them before this, cause I was having trouble looking beyond my nose 🙂 and it’s been raining.)
Sean and I set out for a nice stroll, and then climbed the first big hill into the $5m-$10m neighbourhood that graces the hills. It was lots of fun to look at all the big expensive houses, and critique design choices. “Oh, those people are just showing off their money”; “Ah, that’s nice, look at how they blend into the landscape”; “Nice Garden”; “They really need to do something with that garden” etc. You get the picture. So, as we walked along, There was one BIG yard that had a small circular area cordened off, with high hedges and some chairs in the middle (we could see it cause it was in a valley). I called it the “Secret Garden”. I think it was the feature I liked most out of all the sites we took in…
So, eventually, we came to a trail that went through the woods. So, we took that route. It was really muddy, and lots of fun, cause the mud was sticking to our shoes in seconds, and was about 3 inches thick after about 10 feet. Needless to say, we had to stop frequently to remove the build up. As we walked the trail we met some deer. Well, they weren’t very happy to meet us, but we stopped and starred at each other for a few minutes. Then they said goodbye and headed down the hill, while we fought the mud monster on the trail. It really was like a gift from God. There’s something special about seeing wild deer while your enjoying creation.
So, we walked on a while and finally came back to civilization. It took about 2 hours total, and we are very thankful for our friends jacuzzi, which we have been using to cure tired achy muscles. 😉
Deer are so beautiful…when cooked to medium rare and served to me….JK???…
You failed to tell me about the deer on the phone…I guess you were just saving something for me to read…how kind of you!
