Today we are in Coffs, tomorrow we will travel to Newcastle. We’re with my dad right now, enjoying the sites of northern New South Wales. I think that I have seen more of this area from my dads car in the last few days than I have ever seen.

The scenery is gorgeous, and we’ve enjoyed climbing rocks on the beach and headlands to get the photos we want, and just to look at the fishys in the rock pools, all while trying to avoid getting drenched by the pounding waves. The coast has put on a good show for us, with balmy sunny days all week. The sunshine still follows wherever we go.

One disappointment from the week – we were on the train on ANZAC Day, and so we missed all the services and memorials in sydney and newcastle. I was hoping to take Sean downtown to the ANZAC Memorial and show him another side to the rich Aussie culture. But we were stuck on the train… Dad took us to the ex-services clud when we arrived, but the services had finished and I didn’t notice the sprigs of rosemary until we were leaving.

On the upside, we did find an excellent Thai restaurant here in Coffs and we ate there twice (we had to twist Dad’s arm to eat in the same place twice in one week). The name of the restaurant is Thai Inthanon, and it’s right on the Pacific Hwy. So, if you’re in the area, drop in and tell Gee that the crazy farangs that speak Thai sent you. 😉 I was worried I’d forgotten my Thai, but I actually managed to hold an intelligent conversation. Yay!
