We’re off to Thialand in just a few days. So we are madly packing and repacking our bags. I totally overpacked for this trip. It’s hard to know what you’ll need for a year away from home. But I now have a strategy that I hope to use in the future. Basically, never pack for more than one week, no matter how long you will be away. Trust me.

Today we gave a bunch of stuff away – furniture, food, stuff that we needed to make this little studio a home. So, Sean played mover boy and I tried to combat the dust bunnies that have accumulated behind desks, bedside tables and under the bed. After a cursory attack, I decided that a vacuum cleaner is my best weapon. Since we don’t have one, my next strategy was to give myself a break and lie down (monster headache).

My husband is amazing!! I thought I had organized the room and put things ‘in their place’, but when he got home and while I slept, he reorganized everything. So, I made up for my guilt by making him a killer lunch – chicken and salad. Only problem was, he had just given our salad dressing and Thai Sweet Chilli Sauce (perfect with chicken) to our good friend, Stephen. So, my attempt at a perfect lunch was not so perfect. Being a typical American, he can’t eat his salad without some dressing, or his chicken without sauce, so he added mustard and tomato sauce (ketchup) to ALL of it!!!! YUCK!

After getting over my husbands strange eating habits (he still surprises me after 10 years), it was back to the business of sorting and packing. Well, for him it was. I’m sitting at the computer writing this. Hmm, I’m beginning to feel that guilt again. Better get to work….
