Mum and I arrived in Chiang Mai yesterday (Wednesday 11/29) to a nice warm welcome, meaning friends and weather. Mum almost had a cow when she discovered what a ‘nice cool 23 degrees celcius’ feels like in Chiang Mai….
Our trip was very uneventful and easy. No morning sickness problems, which I was very happy about. All my nightmares and fears about being sick on the plane or an airport restroom were unfounded, much to my relief. I was also very thankful also that the gate agents allowed us to pre-board with the ‘important’ people, so that Little JB and I weren’t jostled by all the pushy passengers vying for a spot for their luggage in the overhead bins.
A bunch of our friends greeted us at the airport, and then Mirjam took us straight to pick up little David from school, and he ‘read’ his Pooh book to me on the way home. At one point he asked, “Where is your kid?”, so I told pointed to my tummy and told him, “In here”. Then Jonathan looked at me with wide eyes and said, “Your baby is in there??” and put his hand on my tummy. It was so cute!
I got home to find 2 very happy dogs. The 3rd one had gone walkabout (which she is also doing right now!!!). She’s very naughty. I’m sure that she has a friend somewhere in the neighbourhood that she visits each day. Maybe I should find them and just give her to them…
It’s so good to be home. There’s nothing like sleeping in your own bed. I don’t think I have slept that well in months. And everything is so tropical and fresh. The trees in our garden have gotten so much bigger and our little yard is so cool and inviting. Unfortunately, Honey destroyed the cushions on my porch chairs, so there’s nowhere to sit. But that is easily remedied as soon as my car gets fixed and I can drive to the market and have new ones made.
Aaahhh yes. Our lovely lemon of a pickup truck or ute (depending on which hemisphere you are from) won’t start. Apparently, the problem was discovered yesterday just before we were to be picked up at the airport. So, the mechanic was called, and he ‘fixed’ the problem. It worked fine last night. But, alas, this morning I decided it was time to brave Chiang Mai traffic, go to the market and do some business – like buying food and household supplies. Humph! So, here I am, blogging and starving because my broken down car doesn’t want to leave the driveway. Perhaps it has missed us all these months, too. It’s definitely time for a new vehicle.
Oh, and I am now 19 weeks pregnant. I have to tell you that, cause Blogger Beta has destroyed the lovely graphic that tracked the progress of my pregnancy.
Oh Anne! I am so glad your home! So I noted you said “SHE has ten fingers and She has 10 toes”…So is JellyBelly a Girl?! I miss you all, Have a great Holiday and tell Am and Tonkam Hello for me! LuV Julie
