I have dropped out of blogland for a while, due to the demands of motherhood. My sister is a big advocate for ‘attachment parenting’, and even though I don’t fully understand the philosophy, I have accidentally stumbled into it: ie, Samantha is not happy unless she is constantly attached to me. LOL. Even though I have a sling and a baby pack, I’m still never completely hands free. Oh, and she’s only happy if I’m constantly moving, so sitting at the computer and getting anything done is only possible when Sean’s home or when she’s having play time – at which time I want to interact with them rather than sit at the computer! I’m not sure quite when this ‘accidental parenting’ started, but I’m hoping I can wean Samantha from the habit very soon.

Sam is getting sweeter by the day. She’s now 3.5 months and is so bright and cheerful. She has the cutest little giggle and squeal. When we say “I love you”, she responds with “Aboo”, which we interpret as “I love you, too.” I love to watch her play and talk to her toys. But I love it more when she calls out for me and invites me into the game. Everywhere we go everyone comments on my beautiful “Tukadaa”, which means “Doll”. And everyone wants to hold her, even complete strangers. One day a woman walked up to me and tried to take her out of my arms. I very politely said, “I’m so sorry, it’s time for her to go to bed”. I still laugh that I apologized to a complete stranger for not letting her hold my Princess!

Today she rolled over for the first time!!! I had to stop her first attempt this morning, cause she would have rolled off a table onto hard tiles. Also, Sean wasn’t there to see it. But we were all taking a nap this evening after a hard day at the park (rowing boats, riding bikes and getting lost in mazes), and Sean and I egged our little Princess on as she made her first flip. Now she just has to figure how to get back.

At the beginning of August, we took a road trip across the country to Khon Kaen and Nong Khai (near the border of Laos and Cambodia) for our YWAM National Conference and other meetings. It was a 12 hour drive, and Samantha traveled so well. I was dreading the trip, cause so far Samantha has hated being in her car seat, but I think that the experience has helped her to be more content. She’s a little trooper.

I hope to have updated photos very soon.
