1. you wake up in the morning and find your infant son in the bed with you. you have no memory of how or when he got there.
2. when you hear the neighbours child crying, you immediately go to your child’s bedroom door and listen intently.
3. you cheer when someone goes ‘potty’.
4. a touch of you child’s hand melts your heart.
5. you can smell a poopy nappy from across the room… but don’t say word till darling husband notices and takes action. *evil grin*
6. you can discern you own child’s cry above the cacophony in the mall or playground, from the nursery at church, or just about anywhere with a mile of your location. And an irresistible force will pull you to them – before you even know it, they are in your arms.
7. every tiny advance is a milestone, and must be reported to anyone with ears.
8. my child IS THE funniest, smartest, cutest, beautifulest, most advanced, most talented, most intelligent, most caring and empathetic child in the universe. No other child will ever be able to measure up, so you may as well just stop trying.
Random acts of motherhood, for mums of teens:
Your teen son sits beside his dog weeping and stroking its face after it has just died.
When your 16 year old still wants you to go to the skate with him to watch.
You ask your burly teenage son to go feed the chooks and he says he's afraid of being pecked!
You ask him to go anyway and he gets his gum boots on.
Your son can repeat verbatim the funniest acts in the last comedy festival – and you get to hear them over and over as he tells each of his friends
You watch your teen son playing with a small child and your heart melts. He comes up afterwards and tells you "HOW CUTE!!" said toddler is.
You tell teen son how good he is at something and he says "I know"
