Here is a letter I just received from the Bless Chiang Mai prayer network. Please keep praying for Thailand. It is suspected that the ‘men in black’ described in this article are communist. This is a critical time for this nation. We need our Brothers and Sisters in Christ from all nations to stand with us in this hour.

Thailand is being shaken and we value your prayer and intercession at this moment. The conflict between the Anti-government protesters (Red Shirt) and the Government leading to violence has increased drastically last week.

On Saturday, April 10, 2010 in an attempt to disperse the Red Shirt crowd, the government soldiers ran into men that were…..

“Dressed in black and covered their faces with black masks, their number could be in several hundreds. Snipers also concealed themselves on buildings and shot at both the government soldiers and at the Red Shirts, apparently trying to create a situation of a Civil War. Rangers are better trained than normal soldiers because they are good at guerilla warfare. On the streets of Bangkok, the government soldiers were no match for them because they came in with their hands tied to international standard practice in their attempt to disperse the Red Shirt crowd. They did not expect to be attacked by an unnamed army, which mingled with the Red Shirts and used war weapons to attack them.” (source: The Nation)

As of today, the death toll from the clash has reached 23 (5 soliders and 18 Red Shirt). A total of 842 soldiers and protesters were also reported injured during the violence. (Source: Erawan Emergency Centre)
