You know you’ve watched too many kids shows (or at least been in the same house as your kids while they are watching them) when the theme song you sing while packing is:
“Go Go Go, we’re on an adventure. The thingy majinger is on it’s way. Go go go….”
I’m guessing the ‘thingy majinger’ must be the airplane we’re about to catch.
In our house, we live our life through song. We have theme songs for every event in our lives. Some were written by others. Most are made up on the spot to celebrate life’s auspicious event.
One time Samantha sat in the window as Daddy drove away, mournfully singing, “My Daddy’s gone away. He just drove away in the car. I’m so sad he went away. I don’t know when he’s coming home…” She sat there singing at the top of her lungs, even crying, for about 10 minutes.
Then there’s events like potty time. Or Bath time. Or driving in the car. Or even the song of protest at having one’s hair brushed.
So, it’s only fitting that as I pack I sing the theme song from “The Cat in the Hat”.
And as we fly off on Monday morning, we’ll be singing the song from “Little Einsteins”:
“We’re going on a trip in our favourite rocket ship
Zooming through the skies!!
Little Einsteins….”
Yes. I know the whole song.
The family that sings together, stays together.
